The Control Tower Bed and Breakfast

The Control Tower on the former RAF North Creake Airfield is a unique vegetarian Bed and Breakfast. Its history is fascinating – originally built in 1943 during the Second World War. The Tower has had many uses since then, now it is transformed into a special place to stay in North Norfolk, just 3 miles south of Wells-next-the-Sea.

Vegetarian B&B

Having renovated the control tower, we opened the doors of the B&B in June 2014. The exterior has been returned to its iconic landmark modernist look and we have filled the interior with beautiful original art deco fixtures and furniture to ensure your stay will be comfortable and relaxing.
We offer guests a warm welcome with a hot drink and some cake or local biscuits. We are happy to chat about what there is to do locally and recommend local places to eat based on our own experience.

Our rooms

All our B&B rooms are doubles with period en suite bathrooms. We have three double rooms in the tower which have the use of the guest lounge in the evenings and a shared breakfast table with other guests. We have one suite in an annex building where breakfast is delivered to you to have in private in your suite each morning, this room has direct access to the garden.

Vegetarian & vegan breakfast

Our breakfasts are vegetarian or vegan (from a meat free kitchen) with ingredients sourced from local suppliers where possible. Quality and flavour are our main priority and luckily for us (and you) North Norfolk has so much delicious produce to choose from. Breakfast is an important part of what we offer at The Control Tower. Our style of vegetarian cooking is homemade hearty fare. With over 25 years’ experience of cooking and eating veggie we have chosen delicious dishes which we hope you’ll love too.

For those staying in the tower – help yourself to – prepared fruits (usually from our garden), organic yoghurt and cereals. On your table a plentiful supply of homemade jam and marmalade, marmite and local apple juice. We will bring your hot drinks and sourdough toast along with your choice of fully cooked veggie or vegan breakfast or something lighter. If you are in the Stirling Suite all these are delivered to you.
We are very happy to cater for vegan guests just give us some notice so we can have oat milk, coconut yoghurt, plant based spread and snacks in for you.

Acivities in North Norfolk

There is so much to see and do in North Norfolk from walking the beautiful large golden sandy beaches, or long-distance foot paths, swimming in the sea, hiring a boat, birdwatching, seal trips, cycling the quiet lanes, discovering quaint villages, browsing independent shops, or wondering around local stately homes and gardens of Holkham, Houghton and Sandringham. We are a 40 minute drive from the historic city of Norwich.
Given the important and secret history of this Second World War airfield we can sometimes (with notice) offer history tours to give guests an insight into its fascination past.
