Hotel Bent
Oisterwijk, Noord-Brabant
Hotel Bent is a small-scale, sustainable, and quirky boutique hotel in Oisterwijk, located on the edge of the Natura 2000 area. Cross the street and you find yourself in the forest. With a protected nature reserve at its doorstep, the hotel has no choice but to make conscious choices. This is exactly what owner Karin Bruers and her daughters have done. They have created one of the most sustainable hotels in the country, where sustainability goes far beyond solar panels and a heat pump. Discover this unique hotel in Brabant, where your dog is also more than welcome.
One of the most sustainable hotels in the Netherlands
Hotel Bent can best be described as slightly stately and romantic, with a touch of urban glamour. The eight rooms and two suites have wood as their base, creating a warm atmosphere and healthy air. The interior colors are inspired by the surrounding nature. Each room is equipped with comfortable beds, a seating area, and a bathroom with unique mosaic work. You may know the owner, Karin Bruers, from the social project Social Sofa, a mosaic-covered bench spread across the Netherlands with the aim of bringing people together. The talents from Social Sofa also crafted the bathrooms at Hotel Bent. Four of the hotel rooms are located on the ground floor, making them perfect for a weekend or a few days away with your dog. On the first floor, there are four more rooms, each with a small French balcony. The two suites are on the second floor. In addition to a separate seating area and extra space, they offer a beautiful view of the wooded surroundings.
Surroundings
What a stroke of luck, you are in one of the most beautiful spots in Brabant. Close to Hotel Bent are the nature reserves: Oisterwijkse Bossen en Vennen and Kampina. As the name suggests, in the Oisterwijkse Bossen en Vennen nature reserve, you will find fens. Start your visit to this nature reserve at the visitor center in Oisterwijk and choose from one of the 23 walking and cycling routes. During a nearly 10-kilometer walk, you will pass no fewer than 14 beautiful forest lakes. On a windless day, the reflection in the water is stunning. Walking here is anything but boring, as you pass by stately lanes, heathlands, fens, and pine trees.
Between Oisterwijk and Boxtel lies the Kampina nature reserve, an extensive area known for its heathlands. The forests and fens are also beautiful, discover them by bike or during a walk. A visit to Oisterwijk is also a must. In the historic village center, you will find the characteristic Brabantian coziness on the terraces and in the restaurants. Prefer a day in the city? You are staying in the triangle between Tilburg, Den Bosch, and Eindhoven. Plenty of choices! At the end of your day, you can relax on the rooftop terrace of Hotel Bent, where you can unwind with a nice drink while enjoying the view over the treetops towards the fairy-tale-like Esschenven as a backdrop.
