Haskell’s House

Haskell’s House is a charming old house in older neighborhood, near all amenities and not far from the beach and a very short ride from the Ft. Lauderdale airport.

We are within minutes’ walk of downtown Ft. Lauderdale and a supermarket, organic farmers’ market, restaurants, bars, movies, performing arts center, library, museums, yoga and tennis. We have a bike available to borrow and there’s a nearby weekend shuttle to the beach (or bike/drive 10-15 minutes). Off-street parking is provided.

For Vegetarians

Haskell’s House is for vegetarians only. No flesh or flesh-byproducts are allowed on our premises. The house is surrounded by nature-friendly landscaping and greenery, with a private, enclosed back yard. There is a vintage Mac and lots of DVDs you can watch, as well as books, magazines, and games. We do not provide a television, but encourage you to enjoy nature outside our doors. Haskell’s House does not allow smoking on the property.

Each of the two-bedrooms in the house is available for rent. They have double beds; one has a separate entrance, each has a private bathroom. We have antique furniture and a restful decor. There are DSL outlets in each bedroom as well as in the living and dining rooms. We do not provide or allow a wi-fi router because of electro-sensitivity.

The house is “green”

The house is “green” in that paint and other materials used by us to restore it are almost exclusively low voc and cleaning is done with natural, biodegradable products. We do not use pesticides. Our linens are made of natural materials. Recycling, composing, and energy conservation are required.

We have a well-equipped kitchen with large refrigerator, Vita-mix, Champion juicer, Excalibur dehydrator, food-processor, wheat grass juicer, and pots and pans. No microwave or dishwasher. There is a washer and a dryer on site.

We have a week minimum and much prefer longer stays, especially for our lovely winter season.
